During the month of October, Spitzer Art Center is exhibiting Elaine Hurst's That's My Dog! These paintings are all unique, with different color schemes and landscapes, but all have one thing in common: the admiration, loyalty and love of dogs. Artist Statement: "Artists look at the world around us in a unique way. I have always looked at the my world through an artist’s lens. I see the shapes and colors that make up our everyday lives. I watch the way light changes things, many times within a blink of an eye. I embrace the way that colors interact and what that interaction does to my senses. These are some of the things that I try to bring to my paintings. Through training, workshops, classes, advanced learning, and a lot of time spent at the easel, I feel that I am getting a glimpse of how I want to paint, and what it means to be an artist. It isn't something that you become. It is something that you continue to learn and work on. It isn't for the faint of heart, but rather it is about the process of learning skills, how to see, and how to feel, like an artist."
